I just bought a 23 hp 48" GHS, I changed the break-in oil this weekend and also filter, i got the filter from my walker dealer and its not the same. The manual calls for a 52-050-01 full flow and he gave me a 52-050-02 a little longer and not kohler an aftermarket. Anyone know if this will cause a problem?

oil filters vary in size. If the dealer gave it to you, I'd say it is most likely the correct filter. It actually will filter more dirt being larger in size.

Make sure the tail wheel will not clip the filter when your turning, it will stick out more than the shorter version. I would not use the large capicity filter it's a close fit

I just had the same sitation, with my local power equipment. I asked for a factory kohler oil filter for a 26 hp efi engine, and they gave me a rotary which is much larger. And the problem i am having is that it wont fit in with the rear tail bars.

You need the 01 filter it is shorter than the 02. the 02 won't fit. Ed

I would also call the dealer out on it. They should be providing Kohler filters unless you ask for aftermarket IMO.

Sure the manual doesn't call for the 1205001?
