my concerns besides the lack of weight for digging would be getting the clay to fall out of the smaller buckets. i have a 12' bucket i rarely use because the clay hangs up in it too much.

didn't think about that. they've ordered one for my to try out, I told them a 8" bucket because I'll mostly use it for tree holes and 6" drain lines... but I figured if i like it I'd get another bucket. I'll have it in a couple of weeks and will of course shoot some pics and review. just wished someone else had one so I knew what I was getting into.

no plow, we pretty much trench everything here. Clay to hard/rocky for plows

how did it work out?

pretty good, its a heck of a lot better than a shovel and pick. Especially as things start to warm up down here. I'm getting a 12" bucket in addition to this dainty 9" which is great for trenching up along side walk and whatnot but not so good for lets say a hole.

Brandon, did you find that without the backfill blade (that mini-ex's have) the hole skidder can be pulled forward in tough soil? That was my experience, then again, that was 8 years ago with a wheeled Dingo.
Did you ever see this thread I started? It has some video's of the Dingo in action, the first one is the excavator. http://www.lawnsite.com/showthread.php?t=131815

mine has stabilizers and they help alot, the other thing we do is if it's rough soil my "driver" will keep a little pressure on the tacks in reverse. other than that I'm happy so far, I have a 9" and just picked up a 12" bucket yesterday. Its great for drainage trenching, not as great as a mini-x but the boss lady saw on of those flipped over once and has a fear of us on one so this will have to do for now.

we've got a lot of use out of this attachment so far, does a much better job for drainage than our trencher, especially w/ 6" pipe and also where we have to get the fall more accurate. beats a pick and shovel any day of the week.

brandon,
when you lift the stabilizers does it get very heavy with the operator in the seat? i also wonder if there would be a way to reach back to the controls to reposition when trenching. maybe a broomstick back to the controls type thing. i know osha wouldn't love it. what are your thoughts? looks good and like it is working out well for you.
thanks,
metin

yes it can be done quite eaisly, wouldn't do it going down a hill, but at least w/ the sk650 it's heavy enough to handle it, not sure if your run of the mill dingo would do as well

the trick w/ clay is to break it up hence the cat... you could run over it all day w/ the tiller and nothing would happen, but break it up 6" deep and you can make some nice soil
