View Full Version : Landscaping Trim border?

So, as I continue to muddle my way through completely redoing the 70 foot stretch of landscape accross the front of my house, I got the Plants, flowers, accent stone, and mulch.

I ripped out the old black plastic brorder. Is it necessary to replace it, or can I cut a nice edge, and mulch to the grass? I assume without the border, I'll get some grass in the mulch, so how do I combat?

Thanks All!

You can do something called a dropped-lawn edge. Scroll down here.

That is exactly what I was hoping to do. The advice I got from some is that grass would creep into the mulch area more easily than if I used a border.

I really don't want to be pulling grass out every weekend.

Will this work?

I used that type of border edge in the front and find I have to maintain it once or twice a year. It's actually easier then a border that isn't solid, like brick or wood stakes or rock. You can see where the grass is when it starts to creep in. I have fescue.
