View Full Version : Tree removal -- Help!!!!!

I'm a homeowner and have 2 tall Pine trees adjacent to the house that are pretty ugly and just fill the gutters with needles.

I've cut down a few trees in my day, but nothing this big so close to the house.

The trees are about 30-40 feet tall, and are branchless at the bottom 6 feet.

I'll keep and split the lumber myself for firewood, so how much would it cost to cut down, and grind? Is there anyone in the forum close that wants to bid this?

Seriously, there's no-one with an idea of cost on this?

I think there are only a handful of tree folks on the forum. Most here really don't want to touch tree that size... Just a guess.

Open the yellow pages, thats the best i can do you. Just make sure they are well known and well insured

Check license and insurance.

One lady called me to remove a 25' pine once, and lost a down payment to another tree service whom her neighbor hired. So that goes to show that references don't guarantee an insured licensed referral.

I don't even sub-contract big removals anymore.

We're buying a new house in May, and once we take possession, there is a weak sweetgum that needs to go, and possibly a few conifers dropping debris over the driveway parking.

Odds are, I'll sub-contract.

Even a few of us pros can become uncomfortable after a number of years, with removing large trees.

Around 600 plus the stumps.

depending on how close to the house they are, direction they lean, any wires nearby? they may have to be rigged down in sections. or jus tlined & dboxed out & dropped. from $150 -350 each all depends on above items.

you burn pine for firewood?

yes, I'll burn it.

I called a tree service, they quoted $800 to cut the tree, grind and take away the branches.

I asked them the leave the trunk for burning.
