Exmark Metro 36 - Kawasaki 13hp hard to start

HI all,

Am having issues with a used Exmark Metro 36 w/ 13hp kawasaki on it. Unit is about 6 years old, so it is not the KAI engine.

Issue:

Hard to start, pull start only. I pull the cord out just past compression, let the cord recoil - and it takes forever to get going.

it's almost a guessing game whether it will start.

Have checked the safety devices, it's out of gear, in park, throttle lever is in choke position.

Any ideas?

When you put the throttle control in choke position look at the carb and make sure the choke butterfly is FULLY closed.....Model numbers off the engine would be helpful.

I have this engine on a 32, and it would give trouble every spring. The Exmark tech fooled with it and it was still fukked, so I just ordered a new carb and it's fine
