I bought a 60" Dixie chopper at an auction and I can't figure out what year it is or what engine it is, besides that it is a Kohler. The engine ID label seems to be missing. I can't find it on the intake cover. Is there another place to look? The serial number of the machine is 10-31240.

Any help would be great! Thanks.

I would contact a dixie dealer and give them the serial # they should be able to tell you what you need to know

I can tell you from the serial # that it is a 2001. As far as the engine, if it is a Kohler in 2001, pretty good bet it's a 25 hP unless it's fuel injected, then it's a 26. Without a spec # tag, it's a crapshoot without taking it apart. You can get #'s off top of carb, and then have to find what the carb kit# is (kohler does'nt use # on carb as part #) and then match it to an engine. It should have a grey deck, probably a 25hp. Model # would tell, if it's an Xg or XW 2500, first 2 #'s are HP.
