hey guys im new here, i have a murray 42inch cut riding mower with the briggs and straton 313700 series, my model number on my mower is 42516x92a. every time i turn the key to start it all i hear is a clicking noise under the stering wheel shell, coming from the selinoid, so i took a wrecnh and crossed the hot to the starter and i get a little bit of starting out of that but not enough to start the mower, i check the fuse and i got a good battery. what could be going wrong with the mower?

back electrical connection somewhere maybe even a bad starter solenoid or your actual starter could be weak

is there a way to test the starter and the selinoid?

not realy you might be able to take them to a small engine shop and they might be able to test them for you..

Can you grab the flywheel screen and turn the engine clockwise easily ?

I'd bet the valves need to be checked/adjusted to get the compression release functioning again.

A easy test for the solenoid is put a test light or multimeter on the starter post then hit the key and check for voltage at the starter.
