those are some Beefy loader arms...and the cab looks like it has awesome visibility...what made you choose orange over green? Nice tractor though, what is it, around 50-60hp?

37 hp-28 @ the pto. Kubota hydrostat plus technology is light years ahead of anyone! Awesome power combined with a light footprint is what works for the lawn king co. This is our 3rd new kubota in 8 years. 21 hp to 30 hp to 37 hp. They just get better and better!

That is an awsome machine. I almost traded in my JD 2210 for a L5740HSTC, but decided I better wait and see what happens with this economy and all.

Nice looking machine Lawn King. The cab looks really nice, hope you dont break glass very often hehe.
I had considered getting one but I went with the bx24 for the hoe and it's smaller size is better suited to what I do most of the time. I like the Kubotas for the same reason you do, good power in a small package. The light footprint doesnt rip the ground up and the frames are heavy enough they don't fall apart when they get pushed a little hard.

This grand L series is the real deal. Big power, big loader, super duty axles, well thought out controls in a backhoe style side console, a spacious operators station,a comfortable seat and the cab is very, very quiet.

Nice tractor! Do you use it for snow?
My father had a caddy like your neighbors, looks like a '74 or '75. Great on gas too! (472 c.i. big block )

Since you guys are into the orange stuff. Anyone know what a garage kept 1980 Kubota L 245, 2 wd, & 3 pt. plow, w/600 hrs. is worth? (The guy is asking $3500. obo)

Hey Lawn King how about an update ? How does the L 3400 compare ?
merrimacmill
10-11-2008, 02:38 AM
Ya, an update would be great. I'm still tossing the idea of a 5740 around. Have you done any digging with the loader? If so, how are the mounting points on the arms holding up? I've noticed some loosening up on my deere after a few years of snow work, and digging dirt with her. Its been a concern of mine with the tractors with "add on" loaders instead of built in loaders like the TLB's have or something of the sort. Let us know, and again nice tractor!

The L series loaders are very heavy duty with the exception of the 514. I have done quite a bit of stone, mulch, loam and fork work and she's tight. Having owned/operated/worked/ tractors for over 3 decades, i can honestly say the most impressive aspect of my machine is the cab. My machine has a ton of power, strong fel and pto and the 3 PH will lift 2400 lbs like nothing. The Quiet, comfort & electronics of the grand L 40 series kubota cab tractors is awesome, combine this with the technology of the hydrostat plus tranny and you have a CUT that is superior to any machine in its class! The rise in cost of fertilizer & control products in the past 18 months is crazy, having a machine that provides me with digital readout of ground speed as well as rpm speed of my rear pto is a huge asset in proper application rates per 1000 square feet. I have no regrets paying top dollar for kubota, they are worth the every dime! We have purchased 3 new kubotas (2 B series,1 L series) in the past 8 years, no regrets!

How much was the cab. My dealer did me numbers on a 3240 today but I never asked about the cab. Started off looking at the L 3400 but there are rebates on the 3240 that arent on the 3400. It makes the 3240 only 900 more, kind of a no brainer. What type of broadcast spreader do you have ? Do you ever wish you didnt have the cab when you are in tighter lawns ?

The cab runs around 5 K with the stereo and rear lights, wiper, etc. I never regret the cab, i have other ride on equipment for smaller accounts.

I'm kind of suprised on the decision with turf tires. I got a John Deere compact tractor 855. I do loader work sometimes I would kill to have lug tires. Actually, my front tires are turf tires and the back are Super Swamper TSL's off my toyota. My truck was needing new tires, and the ones on the deere had a crack all the way around right in the middle? DOn't know the cause of that though. And so I slapped them on there.

My primary use for this machine is working on pristine turf, turfs have worked great for us in snow removal operations as well. This is our 3rd machine set up with turfs, they fit our needs well.

gotta love the orange. we just bought the kubota m7040, with the grand cab and loader. currently it has a ten foot snow pusher on the front of it. will out push three trucks. we are tired of being nickel and dimed by john deere. just took one of our payloaders in for some PM and they charged $95 to diagnose and change 3 light bulbs.
so needless to say, our new favorite color is orange. let me know how that kubota does for you guys.

hey lawn king. the only complaint i have with our new m7040 with the snow pusher on it is that the steering is very poor with the pusher on the ground. we have the ag tires on it. do you think the turf tires would do a better job? you constantly have to adjust the loader to get the machine to turn. real pita!!! i posted this question on plowsite, didn't get any good advice.
lawn king
11-27-2008, 11:33 AM
Turf tires are better in snow for sure.
Grounds Specialist
11-27-2008, 04:46 PM
lawn king do you think the turf tire would be better for the steering problem i am having. i would think mainly because it has more surface area of the tire touching the ground. i am going to contact my dealer where i bought it from. the tractor has less than 10 hours on it. i sure hope they will exchange the tires. i knew i had an option of which tire we wanted. we will do alot of dirt work with it in the summer, so i thought the ags were the way to go. the steering is so bad, that it is only a matter of time before someone hits a car or garage.

The turfs may improve control somewhat but a 10' pusher is backhoe equipment, you may want to drop to an 8' jmho?

The npr is a turbodiesel 3 speed auto, she tows the big girl pretty good. I dont put more than 3000 lbs in the dump body when i have the machine in tow. The machine in the photo is a B3030, its half the gross weight of the 3540.
