1 ton of top soil whats it cover?

I am compiling a list of Equations and basic ways to explain what a yard or ton will cover. Any help would be great thanks guys. Also any other ones you think are good. Once i get it all together ill make a PDF and put it back up here.

this is what it says in one of my supplyers books, even though it is gravel, i think it will help you gravel and mulch coverage is some what similar.
"Rule of thumb, 1.5 tons equals a cubic yard.
1 ton covers approximatly: 220 sqft at 1 in depth
110 sqft at 2 in depth
73 sqft at 3 in depth
36 sqft at 6 in deptho
22 sqft at 9 in depth" east haven ladscape 2008.
it also has this guideline for mulch coverrage,
"Depth per 1,000 sqft= yards
1 inch = 3.5 yards
2 inches = 7 yards
3 inches = 10.5 yards
4 inches = 14 yards
1 yard covers approximatly 300 square feet at 1 inch" east haven landscape 2008.

1 ton will cover 100 square feet at 2" deep.

These sound about right. Now, (and just for future reference), don't get his confused with mulch coverage - that is different because of the amount of settling (or less of, rather). Mulch is about 100 sq. ft at 3" deep per yard. It comes in at something like ".93", or something like that.
