I was outside of our office this morning when I saw something go down right in front of me that you just don't see everyday...

The Waste Management truck was stopped in the middle of the road with two garbage men scurrying quickly and gracefully back and forth tossing cans and bags of garbage into the back of their truck.

Everyone knows that when the garbage truck is doing it's thing, you let it do it's thing, sit patiently, don't blow your horn, and pass the truck when they are done.

Being that this is a single lane road, there isn't much room to pass. The truck was in the middle of the road and cars started to line up coming in both directions.

When the garbage truck finally pulled off to the side of the road, I caught out of the corner of my eye and older woman yell out her window at the garbage men...

"C'mon Ya Friggin Jerks!!!"

Was just one of those things...I smiled, walked back into the office and got back to work.

They are friggin jerks!! I almost got into a fight with some of them last year during spring clean up season. First they empty my garbage pail, stealing my roll of garbage bags. Then as they come back around the cul de sac one of them yelled at me saying that I can't put any more bags at the curb. I was power raking a customers lawn and we were putting them curb side and they passed my half way through.

So I yelled at this gabage punk That I'll do whatever I want, He yells saying they aren't going to take them. (I guess because they had already passed and took what was there and they have some rule about not picking up from the same address twice. As they got closer I was still arguing because I couldn't care what they did. And they called a friggin goof ball supervisor on me. He was there in 3 minutes and the garbage man said "Now he's going to give you a fine" I told him to go F himself, told the supervisor to go F himself and told them that they stole my roll of garbage bags. They had to replace them but I still filed a complaint with city hall and gave the evil eye to all garbage men for about a month after that LOL.

maybe they were Pi$$ed that they had to do YOUR job you are the professional contractor and you leave your mess at the curb. I worked for a trash company for 6 years and if we cought someone doing what yhou were doing we would leave the trash and the company would notify the homeowner that they were going to be charged extra for a commercial pick up. if you cant do the job properly (which includes disposal) the dont do it.

I will usually take leaves, but if the customer says its ok to leave them I will. I just dont get why the garbage will take leaves the homeowner raked, but if they paid someone to do the same thing they dont want to.

I personaly think its a good thing your from canada because you wouldnt get along with people to well in this country. Now that i am done bashing you The city i live and work in dosent pick of leaves in the spring only in the fall. you leave it on curb its gonna be there till fall or it rots away. You charge them for haul away but maybe if you had half an ounce of people skills you could do that. A company is a reflection of how the owner handles them selfs. You sir dont come off in a professional manner.

Well if I had a very large trailer (I only have a 5x10 utility trailer) I would consider offering to take thatch to the dump at an extra cost I could market it up some how. But I'm not buying a large trailer for a 3 week power raking season especially in my city where it's extremely common for homeowners and co.s alike to put spring and fall clean up at the curb. If I was to do it now, with my current set up, I would have to go to the dump every few yards.

As it is, I have many loyal customers and I've only had one person in three seasons complain.

My God you Yanks can't spell. I've heard about your education system.

Noon hour last summer...4-way intersection w/3 lanes each. Very heavy traffic. Green arrow lit up, but the car in front didn't move. I was in the center lane next to a city truck that was in line to make that left turn (4 guys inside the truck, and they had their windows down). Well, the light turned red so nobody was able to turn. All of a sudden one of the city employees stuck his head out the window and yelled, "Hey you stupid F___!!!!" Lots of people heard that cuz it was a calm day, and many had their windows down too.

The driver blocking all the cars was a young woman talking on her cell phone. I'll never forget that one.

We never haul leaves away. The city provides curbside pick up during the fall season. Just get them out to the curb and the city does the rest.

We have curb side pick up too. Our garbage company is pretty good. Atleast our driver is, one morning we forgot to take down the garbage can, I seen them coming, So I was rushing around to hurry up and get the can down to the road, by the time I got outside, the driver had come up to my garage and brought the can down him self. And we have set stuff out that we weren't suppose to, and he took it, so for christmas we gave him a card with some money in it. Can't beat that.

Which, that would be the reason why you leave these folks do their work :p

Garbage pickup should be a night job. Do it when noone else is on the road instead of crawling along holding everyone up that has somewhere to go.

no thanks people like it with out noise at night. Ever heard a cat peacefully going down the road at 3 in the morning no it cant be done. And safety its hard enough for the guys during the day make it even worse with the drunks at night

Most of the time, all you can do to give yourself solace, is wish that they meet an extended, painful death. (The ones in a hurry to go nowhere.)

isnt there a saying about not messing with the garbage man? why would you be so irritated with them doing their dangerous and crappy jobs that they probably already hate enough as it is. why dont you leave them a tip instead of belittling them.

Is it going to kill anybody to have to wait a few minutes while the trash truck is occupying the lane you are in? As far as the amount of trash they will collect: I will bet if you inquire, when the homeowner signed up for trash service, it was specified how much trash can be collected at any given stop without having to schedule a special pickup for an excess amount! If YOU are making money doing the job, YOU should be hauling it away from the residence. In addition, would you want to collect trash at night, when the margin of danger ,in dealing with traffic, is higher yet? Cut them some slack guys!

it should be illegal to tie up traffic during the day.

i lived next to my parents for some time. they had 2 garbage cans. htey only filled one. so, id put my trash into their 2nd can they pay for. one day the garbage truck leaves their driveway, flies down my gravel driveway skidding to a stop, the guy throws a bag of trash in my yard because he saw my address on an envelope. he was screaming at my wife in the house saying we could get arrested for using someone else's trash.......

some simply take their jobs too seriously

did you ever consider they are paid by the stop. when i worked for a trash company we were paid that way, so by you doing that is taking money out of their pocket. you would be a little p.o.ed if some one was doing that to you.

my parents paid for 2 cans... hence, we are aloud to fill 2 cans. i dont care if they take in people off the streets to fill them both, doesnt matter, they were hired to pick up 2 cans of trash. how many businesses let employees throw their household trash out at work?

better yet, we had many animals and a 3 year old son, the speed he came down my driveway he couldnt have stopped should any of my animals or son ran out infront of him. he was trespassing!

your PARENTS paid for 2 cans not you. you were basically stealling from the trash comapny. the throwing your trash away at work is irrelevent because that is a commercial deal not residential.

lol, wow serious? if i hire you to come and take 2 loads of brush away are you going to care if it was my brush or my neighbors....if your hired for 2 loads you need to take 2 loads......my parents paid extra for the 2nd can, they deserve the right to fill it up with whatever garbage they want whether it came from them or not. it wasnt stealing because my parents paid for it and i had their permission to use the can. i assure you animals were harmed and no laws were broken under our uses of garbage cans. no child left behind must have been before your time..... speaking of cans, if you use your parents toilet and they hire some to pump their septic is that like stealing too?

I gotta side with Supercuts on this one. If they paid for 2 cans, it doesn't matter who puts chit in them.

I have a buddy who has a dumpster at his place (350 acre farm) and they share it with 2 neighbors, (is that breaking the law)
