How well would a stick edger work to cut the weeds next to 200 yrds. of chain link fence. Its all grown up now, I need to cut it back, spray it, and keep the weeds out. Would a stick edger get it cut back easily?

spray weed killer on it BEFORE you weed eat it.
Then WAIT and let the weed killer KILL the grass and turn it yellow and get dry and brittle...THEN weed eat it the dry, DEAD grass !
DONT use a stick edger for this WHATEVER you do.
Also weed eater line and chain link fences DONT GET ALONG. Keep them away from each other by USING WEED KILLER.
Good luck

Chainlink has this strange ability to eat string at a very high rate...even faster then running trimmer head against concrete. As someone else mentioned, spray the weeds first so that you have as much contact area for the plant to absorb the chemical.
