Newbie to Fertilizing

I live in Northern PA and was wondering if there would be a any real benefit to aerating this time of year....basically I'm wondering if I'm passed the "window" of opportunity or should I just be fertilizing and weedkilling at this point....

There is really too much work out there this time of year to be worrying about aerating this time of year. Most guys in my area start aerating in September and go into leaf season since they overseed at this time. Fall is the best time to seed. But to get back to your question yes you can aerate now. It will stir up some weed seeds but you will be OK. All the golf courses are doing it now or just finishing up.
