craftsman mower problem

so i picked up a cheap push mower just to do small yards i have. it's not self propelled or anything. j/ a simple bagger. well yesterday I hit a rock that i didn't see ahead of time. my blade started rubbing this little metal piece under the deck that is tack welded the piece had snapped. I ended up taking it off completely. I now have a feeling that this will ruin my chances of bagging the clippings. anyone everhave this problem before?

as long as your blade is sharp you shouldnt have any problems.
