I was asked today to submit a bid for renovation on a highschool baseball field infield. Here are the problems I saw while looking at the field this morning. it had burms on both infield and outfield. the infield is in poor condition. it has a stand of hybrid blue grass that is bare in area. the strip between the pitchers mound and home plate was rutted in pretty good. The clay based soil was compacted pretty good. The outfield needs a good overseeding.

Here is my plan
1. bring in a sod cutter to remove sod in burmed areas then bring soil back to level.
2. come in and aerate the mess out of the infield and outfield area where sod was removed.
3. apply new seed at 5lbs to 1000 sq ft
4. apply fertilizer 20-10-5 seems good for my soil make up
5. apply a top dressing to the infield and out field area that was re seeded.
6. areate, overseed, and fertilize the rest of the out field.
7. once grass comes back in cut new base lines for the dirt areas.
8. Last we are going to bring new red dirt mix for dirt areas.

Is thier anything I might look at doing different. I know this to work well but I am always looking for a better way of doing things

You might have done it already but if it was me, I would probably get a slit seeder instead of aerator to do the spots where you remove all the grass. That is unless its just a small area then it really wouldnt be necessary.

I just finished up everything tuesday. now I am keeping my fingers crossed. I would have prefered a slit seeder but I could not get my hands on one. I went to two major rental outfits and they looked at me like I was crazy. So I just kept with what I already own.

Nice. How many hours you end up putting in for the job? Any pics?
