Doing a mulch job this weekend and the home owner also wants more sand brought in for there kids playground area (2-1/2 yds) My ? is theres weeds/grass growing in the old sand is there any way after I pull them out and put in the new sand to keep the weeds from coming back? Dont forget about the kids playing in the sand, I dont want them to start growing a third arm from some thing I did to the sand area.

Remove the sand, put down fabric, replace sand. Other than that, I think not.

fabric or heavy plastic. lots of people around here quit using sand and opted for a soft fibrer / fluff type mulch because of bees that burrow and make nests in the sand and sting the kids. out here people refer to them as garbage bees (always see them around trash cans at parks etc.) don't know if you have those in your neck of the woods
