Guys im new to the site and to the lawn care business. I have a job and a great one at that. I however love cutting grass so I decided to purchase me a new Grasshopper Zero Turn. I got it with the intention of picking up a few yards to help offset the cost.

This being said, I need a name for my new lawn care business. Better yet I told my wife it was her business so it wouldn't conflict with my job.

I have a pine straw harvesting business on the side as well.

As many of you know I think a catchy name is key. This being said I never seem to come up with those names until after the fact. Do any of you have any catchy name that you thought up after naming your own business or do you just have any catchy names that would be a good lawn care business name.

We have a Pro Mow in town and I like that. Just cant come up with anything on my own. Anything you send will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Look in Yellow Pages and avoid similar names. Also think about something that is local to you, such as "Capital", "Delta" or "Tiger" (if that is a local High School or College team).

Your right, until your comment I hadn't even noticed they deleted your post and my response to it as well. I guess the site thought it would lead to a pissing contest

who knows

yeah same here, im tired of everyone hitting me up for wholesale prices when in some cases they triple the cost/bale. I figured that im producing it so i have an edge on these guys, i can put it out cheaper than the others.

So I like you decided to start me a lawn care business so I can mulch the beds and cut the grass.

What are you selling slash or longleaf. I would like to talk with you a bit. You hand baling or mechanical? Lot I would like to talk to you about if that is even possible.

Let me know what you think. Thanks

Well...this is the 3rd Business I have owned, although this one being the least profitable at the moment....so I might know a thing about names...maybe not.

1) Do not name your business after yourself. ie. Bobs Lawn Care. For one...it sounds very unprofessional. 2) Hard to sell your business if ever need be. What if your name is Fred....would you really want to buy "Bob's Lawn Care" and wonder if Bob had a bad reputation for crappy work. Would you want to carry on his bad rep? Always think about down the road. Many businesses are sold....even it that is not your first intentions.

2). Check domains.com for the name you are seeking...see if it is taken. Think big...not small. Wonder if you grow to a gizizilion employees...you will need a website. And you don't want yours already taken. Check .com names first. They are always the best. You don't want someone else having your LawnPro.com website and you having to settle for lawn-pro.net Trust me on this one!

3) Check for state registery. ie. If you start your own (ie. Lawn Pro) and start kicking *ss and taking name....and then you find out, after much advertistement cost, that someone else has already registered that name....they can make you stop doing business at once under your new choosen name. There are a million good names out there....no reason to use a name that is already taken...and better yet...from someone else in your own state that can halt your business at once.

4) It may sound strange but it is actually a good idea for long term business growth and name branding to name it something that makes no sense. Hold on...hear me out. Think of "Nike and Adidas" What in the world is a 'Nike." Ever heard of a NIKE. No, it means absolutely nothing other than a brand of shoes. They did NOT name it "Tiger Shoes, or Gasshopper Shoes" for a reason. Same with Xerox. What do you think of when you think of Xerox?

You think of copiers and copy paper. Xerox is not a word. It means nothing. Wonder why huge companies just don't name their business "Superior Copy Machines" instead of "Xerox." I am not saying name your business...btcsh lawns. That will confuse the customer. But put some thought into it. Also, it is very hard to trade name a Green Lawn Care. Why? It is to broad. Xerox Lawn Care would be very easy to trade name. NO, do not name your company xerox lawn care but I think you get my point.

5) Use your brain. Be different. Put some time and effort in your name. Think big. You and your wife could turn this into a huge milti-truck multi employee business. If you think small...you will remain small.

And remember ...what in the world does Microsoft mean? Now, it means the world's largest software developer. Wonder why they didn't pick "Bob's Software developers".

Long reply....sorry but I am trying to help you.
