If all you are running is a 21" and some small hand tools I would ditch the trailer. If you have something that won't fit in the bed the trailer is great.

I can understand that with a 48" or even a 32" but a single 21" (absolutely nothing wrong with the setup) might be overkill.

There are some who run a 36"and a 21" out of the back of a pickup. I did that for a while last summer. I guess I take a practical approach to equipment and tools and how to transport. That is all. :)

I am thinking so. Frankly a 21" and 32" suit my operation well. Really well. To me its efficient.

I use the trailer for landscaping alot and also plan to use it for an ATV for snow removal. The bed was getting very crampt with everything in there. I picked the trailer up for cheap so its more of a convience factor i guess.

my advice is get a hand held echo blower. that homelite will last maybe 10-15 lawns. spend the money you will be shocked. I started out with about the same equipment and now i have all commercial equipment. good start.

How many lawns do you mow a week?

My goal is to phase in newer comercial equip as I get bigger. I'm only doing 6 lawn right now and the landscape work has been steady so far. I did not advertise this year picked up the customers from word of mouth and some we do their snow removal for. My main focus has been on snow removal for the past 7 years and I am just getting into lawn care. I work a full time day job so the lawns get cut after work.

grasseaters: equipment looks good. Might look into a backup mower if you dont already have one, or get a commercial unit and use that homeowner mower as a backup. Those transmissions on those homeowner toros do not last worth a damn. It may be serving you well now, but the drive/gears have a very short life, especially with 6 lawns a week.

That is my plan to get a commercial mower (not sure what size or type yet) and then use the toro as a back up....

Why do you have a trailer if you are only using a 21"?

That makes sense. I use a trailer, if all I am toting is a 21" I ditch the trailer. Again preference.

How do you like the truck? And what kind of mpg?

why not loose the trailer and haul the mower on a plate mounted to your hitch. We haul 2 on our hitch when we do full days of cutting (res) only. After we started hauling them on the truck we lost huge amount of time on our route.

I like the truck it works well for the snow removal side of the business. Gas milage is not that great around 13 mpg. I plan on adding some 2ft high plywood walls to the trailer tonight so it can be used to haul dirt rock ect ect. I will post some more pics. Like I said earlier the trailer is mostly for landscaping work but since I have it I use it for lawn care as well.
