Its the State Police post in my home town (Carmi IL) I always wait till im done with everything else and then come back to mow along the concrete last so the dew will be off but due to all the rain we have had the last few weeks I just didnt make it. I should of taken a pic of the hill so you can really see how steep it is. Anyway had to call a wrecker to get me out. $30 but dont think my 4 cyl Toyota could of pulled it out.

Man I feel for you.

Learned my lesson about Z-turns on hills 3 years ago. Mowing the back yard of an account that USUALLY takes me 30 minutes. This particular day it had rained earlier, but THOUGHT it would be ok. Ended up sliding down the hill into a chain link fence. COULD NOT get it out without tearing fence out. Ended up taking the chain link fencing apart. Found out how hard it is to put a chain link fence back together solo.

That 30 minute yard turned into nearly 2 hours.

Usually the time you try to save is taken up fixing that mistake, plus some.

That sux. Did it do any damage to the mower?

just curious... What happens if you pull a mower and didn't loosen the hydros. Also what does this mean.... I pulled my husky and my scag at least once a week. Between ditches and the edges of my pond... I haven't ever thought that it would hurt a mower.

glad to see you're ok

I slid down a hill(just a rough clean up, not a nice yard by any means) on my old Turf Tiger last month into a chain link fence.:hammerhead: Not fun.

Negotiating a hill like that, why don't you have the ROPS all the way up?? That would be an instance you'd want them fully deployed, with seatbelt on!! Not to backseat drive or anything!!

Bet that stopped your heart just for a second.
Is that mud? or did you $... yourself?
I took a ride like that last year and ended up in the lake at the bottom. Only about 18" deep where I went in, but it still sucked.

We have had our mowers get stuck a lot. luckly my truck has a winch built in so it comes in handy. Also i have personally slide my mower into a chain linked fence and lets just say it costs a pretty penny to fix.

Those hills can be tricky. Be careful. I almost slid into TRAFFIC. needless to say I stop cutting it with the mower. Weed wacking time.

I put my back wheel in a ditch Friday, thank goodness my trailer has a winch on it, there wasn't a neighbor for a mile.

oh my god man, the same thing happened to me. i just got a z turn on ebay and it didnt have a break because it was a conversion(diffferent story), but anyways i was mowing this hill and i guess i was going a little too fast and i tried to slow down by trying to go backwards(which was the only thing i can use as a break) but all i did was tear up the lawn and the 600lb. mower slammed into the rock wall at the bottom. luckily everything was okay, but there really is no good way to z turn a hill w/o a break
