Read your owner's manual.

Sharpen your blades every 8-10 hours of use (less if hitting sticks, rocks, etc).
Change your oil every 40 or so hours.
Check your air filter weekly and replace when needed.
Grease what needs grease. You should contact the companies to get their manuals. It will help you as some items do not require frequent greasing and some do.
Check spindles, belts, guide wheels, etc.. DAILY.
Check air pressure in your tires often. All your tires. Trailer, truck, mowers.

Buy one, or download one...it is worth the effort. The parts manual is important, too. I always look up my own part numbers before I call the dealer to order, they are easily confused.

i agree don't do anything other guys say, unless you read the manual. Every machine is different obtain the manual, the dealer should carry a lot of manuals, i know mine does anyway if not you can always download it. :)
