removing zoysia grass

I've searched old threads trying to find the answer to my questions w/o luck. I am doing a yard renovation and building the grade in some areas. I live in the midwest and the customer has zoysia grass and wants it taken out and wants sod put down. I planned on using a sod cutter and just taking the old stuff out and then trying to sod the next day after prep. But I dont know a whole lot about zoysia. will it be ok to cut out and resod or will i have to cut it out and then wait to see if it comes back at all. I really appreaciate any help in this area.

I had some or spots of it in my yard. I cut it out and reseeded with no problems. Your results could be different.
