I have heard that the amount of sodium in softened water is not enough to create problems. On the other hand, I have heard that the sodium IS enough to cause problems. It's going to eventually get pretty expensive, if his water softener cycles based on volume, which most of them do. In the long run, it would be cheaper to have a plumber cut in an outside spigot with untreated water.

"Patches" makes me think it is a different issue.

customer says in the winter the grass is evenly green. ( or so) only when he starts watering by hand in the spring , the patches come back. thanks for the reply. james
