Hello everyone,
Does anyone happen to know of a place in the Houston area that can sharpen reel mowers? I have a 25" True Cut that needs sharpening and I can't seem to find anyone (in the phone book) that can do this. I'd be willing to drive up to 150 miles away if they could do it while I wait.
Thanks,
Brad

Check with the local golf course mechanics. Most every course has an expert in sharpening reel mowers and may be willing to do some work on the side. Reel mower sharpening is a skill not many posses anymore. If they can't do it, they will likely know someone that can.

Thanks for the suggestion! So do I just call the golf course and ask for the maintenance barn? What would be a fair price to pay for the service? Do they need to remove the reel from the mower?
Thanks,
Brad

depends on how busy/nice the mechanic is. It also depends on how new thier equipment is also. The course I worked at could sharpen one of those in no time.

Ask them what they charge if they are going to do it.
Around here, the going rate is $5-$10 an inch.
That's right. A 20" wide reel mower will cost you $100 to sharpen. (Minimum.)
