OK, I keep hearing everyone talking about biodiesel. I know it was a big story a while ago, if it's the same stuff, talking about you know where they got their stuff cause you could smell the french fries or whatever from the local fastfood restaurant.
Questions:
1. Is this the same stuff where you take the grease from the restaurant and turn it into feul?
2. Can this feul be used to power something like an F250 with out loosing the power of a F250?
3. I heard about people running these "mills" in their garage, is this feasable?
4. If so, how hard and what do you need to do it?
Feul is getting sooo expensive I have to find something else to run my stuff off of. Where is this hybrid, electrical truck they keep talking about?

Biodiesel and waste vegetable oil aren't the same thing. If you make your own biodiesel, you should be able to run that straight out of your tank. I think biodiesel involves you actually making the diesel through additives and other processes, while wvo involves you getting the used oil from restaurants, filtering and adding to a second tank based on your engines temperature. I've been looking for an early 80's Benz for a little bit now because the engine is very tolerant to a mixing of all 3 fuels.
Greasecar makes a conversion kit for your F-250:

I haven't heard anyone say they lost power from running biod, svo, or wvo.
You can make your own biodiesel in your garage. You need time and some start up money. Treegal probably knows way more about this than I.

the site you gave is for the vegetable oil you get from restaraunts? I take it for the most part they will just give it to you? How hard is it to get everything up and running, converting the oil so you can use it?
At this point in time, a couple thousand dollars isn't that much compared to what it costs me to fill up my diesel truck. It should be paid for in just a few months if I understand it correctly.

If you're talking strictly about bio-diesel then yes it can be made from waste oil through a process called transesterification or a word spelled almost exactly like that. The Readers Digest version is you take the waste oil, filter it, add lye and heat until it seperates. The stuff on top is methyl ester which is bio diesel and the stuff that settles to the bottom is glycerin. If it sounds a lot like how old timers used to make lye soap outta fats thats because it is. Not exactly the same process but close. But like I say, thats the seriously condensed version. I've seen people make the stuff in an old hot water heater and with prefabricated kits. Both make the same stuff if you know what you're doing.
Rudolf Diesel designed his engine to run off vegetable based fuels but waayyy back when the petro stuff was cheaper.

So, on a scale of 1-10 anyone know how hard the process is?

Cookin' up the bio-diesel is like most things. Not hard if you know how. It is an exacting process to be sure and my friends that do it on a regular basis complain about going around and collecting the used oil as much as anything.
Im no chem whizz but after watching guys do it a few times it doesn't seem like it'd be beyond my ability to do it. I just don't own a diesel.

sounds good, this sounds like one of those things that I might tackle in the winter when everything slows down.

trasesterfication = methyl esters/ glycerol's
this is high school science, soil tests are harder to do, wake up every one, we have been lied to for so long that we think the earth is flat!!! go get some veg oil and see the real truth!!!!
the only thing we have to fear is fear itself!!
