How Many Times Can You Overseed....

Stupid question time. I own a Billy Goat, how many times is seeding just a waste of time? I love the diagonal lines..... Go ahead blast me...

You guys can overseed as often as you want can't you? Maybe not July/August, but we do it here in the midwest.
Do you then topdress with compost? I am doing that more and more now and it is helping a lot.
