Gas Mileage... I can't believe it!

I got GREAT gas mileage yesterday! I was towing around 3500 pounds with my '94 E150 and the 351 engine, for a long distance. I fueled up earlier in the day to see what my gas mileage would be. Then at the end of the day, I checked what my fuel mileage had been over that stretch. And I got 17 mpg! Later I pulled another load, this one about 2500 lbs. and got the same mileage. I am VERY happy considering all of the comments about Ford's getting bad mileage. I plan to keep the van for a while... Lord willing. i was going about 50-55 mph too. Has anyone else gotten good towing mileage from their truck?

I get 21mpg unloaded with my 95 F250 4x4 351w and 16mpg loaded w/enclosed trailer & equipment. I get this kinda of mpg because i dont drive over 65mph and not over 2,500rpm on takeoff. So far its been working for me.

with the way gas and diesel prices everyone is going to have to slow down some.
