I hope not. I haven't heard anything negative about the 29 dfi just alot of positives thats why I bought mine. I was told that its Scag's best selling engine? I don't know if that is true or not.

That is true according to their manufacturing facility.

There was a topic on here just a few days ago with a guy that had 3 JD 700 series mowers that all had head gasket problems. He said something about a bad design on the JD mowers that caused bad air flow to the engine and was causing one side of the motor to heat up and blow the head gasket. I dont think its because of the 29hp dfi. It may be an air flow issues.

Here is the thread it was discussed in. It was actually 8 JD mowers and he said they had a head gasket blow almost every week.

I do remember that thread, they gave me a 737 till mine is fixed I am impressed they bumped the rpms and it cuts almost as fast as the 797 I am serious
