Ihave a worn out redmax 3000 trimmer 3 years old maintained properly just wore out. I thought would last longer but I was wrong. Between redmax 2601 ,3000 or echo 265T,285T in yalls opion which is the best and yes my dealer sells both.

I have a 2005 Redmax split-boom, nice machine (trimmer, pole saw, long reach hedge trimmer et. al.), for sure, but for hard-use longevity, I can vouch for Echo.

I've still have some useable Echo SRM-2601's (the last one I purchased must have been 1999???) and have an Echo SRM-260S we've been operating sans guard, with the Edgit attachment on for 4yrs - and not a stitch of problems to speak of.

I love Redmax blowers (trimmers are a-ok too), but I'm sold on Echo trimmers for durability.

(If I needed a new trimmer, I'd opt for the 265S)

Definatley stick to the Redmax. They have incredable blades. I have one that is seven years old and won't die and three others that work great. They always start on the second or third pull. Take the spark arrester out and you will find that they last longer alot less carbon build up and better airflow

Redmax or Echo? That's like Filet Mignon or Sloppy Joes. Each have its place, but buddy, go for the Filet! Redmax is for commercial, echo is for homeowners!

I vote redmax too. I have a 2600 and works perfect after 3 yrs of hard use

If you wore out a Redmax in three years then you need to look at Echo. I got some units that are five years old and are used about 500 hours a year. I have perfomed normal maintenance on these....clutches, seals, carb kits, ports cleaned, plugs, filters...etc. I have had no engine failure ocross about 30 units .....best allaround unit 261T now using 4 265T units added. Apparently you are in the bigger stuff so the 285T or bigger might be what you need.

if you wore out a redmax in three years i would not like to have to work with you. my redmax weedeaters are by far the best for me. i have an echo, my son wont use it i am stuck using it. he uses the 5+ year old red max.

I have some old 2600 redmax trimmers as well. Just keep going. I don't use any special oils just the redmax 2 cycle mix.
