I am designing and spec'ing a very large commercial job and am wanting to use fixtures that utilize PAR20 39W MH HID lamps as well as T6 39W MH HID lamps. The life rating on these is typically 10,000 hours.

I just got a note from another lighting designer that there is some concern that the lower wattage (under 100w) Metal Halide lamps do not last to rated lifetime.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Or if you have heard similar or conflicting reports, please share.

I'm Pretty sure those bulbs are rated like all other bulbs, you put 100 of them in a labroom, when half are out, tadaa! you have your bulb hour rating.

The rating system is the same for sure... what I am asking about is a reported issue with lamp life.
