Hey guys this same job that has all of the wires the same color with the damaged clock, now the guy wants me to service the system about every 5-6 weeks. The job is 32 miles from home one way. He has 26 stations running off of a well for the 1st 15 stations and the city for the last 11 stations. The property is pretty spread out. I was thinking it would take 2 hours just to check the system for proper function and I was thinking of .50 cents per mile round trip. My hourly charge is $40. So that comes to $112 not counting any additional service work like replacing heads, valves, or sprays nozzles or adjusting. What do you think? I've not had anyone ask for this service yet.

charge him a dollar a mile each way.

For this kind of job you want a good remote (transmitter/receiver set) to operate the system.

On a site that size, it's more efficient with two people; one fires the zones with the
remote and the other carries the clipboard and makes notes of problems to be taken
care of later.

I saw a remote for this hunter ICC for somewhere around $400. I have highly considered the remote. What about $40/hr @ 2 hrs per service? And $1 per mile would take the bid to $144 or might as well round to $150. The guy is an retired stunt man from california and moved here to SC a couple of years ago. I thought that was interesting.

you should do 40/hr per man...and in my neck of the woods thats short...

but i know the economy is different down in the south.

might as well round to $150.
Yup.....do you have other sites that you service that could use a remote?
Reason I ask, if you don't, you might think of having the client buy the remote.

$40 seems low, but you could tell him $40 for checking out and a higher rate for making repairs.

I seem to recall a nice PC based controller with remote that would replace that piece just nicely.

That's what I had in mind. I currently don't have any use for the remote on other sites, but it would be nice to have just in case. I have moved from installing Rainbirds est controllers to hunter pro c's and the remote would adapt fine. So I think I will use $150 for now and see how that goes. Thanks.
