Alternative OCDC

I have a Lazer 25/60 (kohler). And I frequently slow the RPMs down when mowing near beds with mulch, trees, etc, to avoid getting clippings in. While this is relatively effective, is there any harm being done to the mower or motor?

You aren't the only one that does this, and I wouldn't worry about harming, or reducing the longevity of your machine!
