My neighbor is making me crazy. He just bought a nice big new Country Clipper. He has 3 Gravely walk-behinds (2 are the old tractors) and some crappy looking Craftsman walk-behind. Today he tooled around his yard on 3 different lawn tractors. He has a crew cab F350, a Silverado 4WD, nice dump trailer, nice 12' utility trailer, and a 25' equipment trailer, and a new Kubota tractor. Nice guy, he loaned me an edger couple years ago to help put in an underground dog fence, but I can't figure out what he does with all that equipment. He manages a grocery store during the day and lives on a level 1 acre lot just like mine. Has a big garden but come on... He doesn't even have a yard to mow after his garden and all his parked trailers and trucks and tractor. Don't see him coming or going with any of it, so he's now mowing anything else I know of.

I need to make better friends with him and borrow equipment. My stuff sure looks like dirty beat up junk next to his. He's fun to watch out the window.

Guys are like that where I live. I have several people in my neighborhood with big time equipment. I did a job for a guy (Aeration and cleanup) and he had an aerator and big walk behind blower. I have a full blown metal working shop, and never touch any of it.

I probably look like your neighbor in my subdivision. I am part time lawn care but have a lot of nice tools at my disposal. I have everything listed in my sig and only a few lawns that I take care of. Just about everything I have made has went back into buying more equipment. Hopefully by next season I can put some of it to use on more of my customers lawns.

The aerator and power rake were purchased used, and actually after yesterday my dealer hates me. I took back a mower I am having problems with 5 times and its still not fixed...same problem. Yesterday he refused to work with me on the problem any longer. And told me to contact the manufacturer. My dealer said he couldn't duplicate the slipping problem so I guess the problem doesn't exist? I guess I always make it a point to stop what I am doing during the day to load up a 21" mower and drive it to the dealer 5 times as if I have nothing better to do or for cheap entertainment.

That wasnt that new Snapper was it?

Im getting away from using Dealers, I had to get a spindle for a mower, the dealer wanted 90$ and didnt have it in stock, the last part I ordered from him took 3weeks to get, I checked on EBAY 45$ including shipping, that part arrived to my front door in 2 days.

Yes, actually it is the Snapper. The rubber drive disk is slipping. They have replaced it, the belts and tightened both the spring for the handle and cut a loop out of the spring on drive disk assembly to make it tighter and with a full bag it will not pull a hill. I was told by one of the mechanics that if bag was full it may do this. I said thats funny...I have 2 of these exact same mowers at home only they are resi units and one is 25+ years old and never a single problem with drive train. The dealer (Owner) told me to get out of his ******* store believe it or not! I told him I didn't know why he was cussing at me but that I wasn't even mad nor had I said one cuss word to him. He told me if I wanted my mower fixed for me to contact Snapper and that he wasn't going to fix it.

On the other side of the story the mechanics (all of them) and the parts guy and girl have been extremely helpful and have bent over backwards to try and help me. My problem is with the owner.

Normally I would not need a dealer, but for warranty work I will use them. I like yourself fix all my equipment.

I usually empty my sack at 3/4 full, but it really shouldnt matter.
I dont know why DEALERS have such attitudes, they charge 75$ per flat rate hour and probably bill close to 200$ per real hour, the profit margin on parts is 60 to 70 %......... The least they could do is treat you with respect and smile a little

I was using full as an example of the extreme...last night I made one pass on my own lawn and it was slipping.

I knew the owner was not a very nice/friendly fellow, I just found out the real "him" yesterday.

I guess in lawn mower world there are no "lemon" mowers. Every one is perfect and any problems are either due to abuse, neglect or the customer is not doing something right or doesn't know what he is talking about.

I know that you know Snappers inside and out. I would try to get my money back or make them exchange the mower

Thats what I was going to try and do. I just got off phone with Snapper and they told me to take it to another dealer.

I took my 22" gas mower into the shop the other day. There was a clicking problem. I got told he would have it back to me in 2-3 days. I came home the other day (2 weeks after I had dropped it off) to find a 19" electric mower sitting there. I was pretty mad. I called him and he told me that I had brought in an electric mower not a gas one. I went to his shop and had some words with him...
