Transmission Fluid in Craftsman Mower?

Have a hydro transmision that is low. Should I put oil in the transmission or do I have to put transmission fluid in it. If so what kind and type thanks?

Most of the Craftsman units have Mobil 1 15W-40 synthetic oil in the transmission.
It's good for anti-wear and cooling properties.

Buy a quart of that and add to the level reccomended in the manual (typically 1" from the top of the housing).
DO NOT...REPEAT...DO NOT MIX ATF WITH THIS.

Also, don't drain the unit and re-fill with ATF. It's not heavy-duty enough.
