I did some patching for a customer last saturday. He could not get grass to grow in these spots. I went back today all brown and dead. He had a sprinkler running once daily. What happened? Not enough water? Bad sod? What should I do next? Help please

The only way sod will die that fast is it was sprayed with something to kill it or it didn't get enough water. One hot and windy day without water will kill it. You can grow sod on concrete as long as it is watered regularly. If you told the customer it had to be watered every day and for how long to water it's not your fault.

Can it be saved at this point, or is it a total loss??

This is true. A guy I worked for 7 years ago grew 500 square feet of sod on a paver patio for 3 months many years ago in Tahoe CA. It was healthy and got cut weekly. After the planning association inspection they removed it and washed off the patio. Like it never happened. I vote lack of water.
