Just go in humble and with both ears open and you'll be fine. Remember the first day is all about observing the relationaships and dynamics within the new company. No one expects you to impress them on day one, just don't offend.

Then we get to Rehab a condo Complex...I HATE COMPLEX'S!!!!!!
Sprays n rotars cut vlave wires, piss poor layouts and I go and replace an old weathermatic Valve...

I gut swap it 2 times...second time I noticed something in the passage way coming from the main..Guy Im with says cut the zone feed and unscrew to see if we can make head or tails of it..

I cut the valve, Start to unscrew a valve with no tape..All 2 inch pvc>1 inc zones..and

SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP!
F'n thing was about as old as god on some cheap asZ pvc.. Still a blockage in the valve which I was able to feel inside...Whole job is im a relay 2 wells that are looped...No pvc replacement parts in the truck, Local homecenter is closed...Going back tomorrow...

I'm WhOOPED!!! And kinda pissed off that Manifold snapped.....In 3 days with this company I would of worked a full week with my old company..Great guys, all very knowledgable with it all, It's where I want to be/ Stay...

Other than the snapped fitting, sounds like you had a great day! Proud for you man, there is nothing like being where you feel like you should be. Life is too short to be unhappy and screwed over by someone who doesn't even appreciate it.

Good job. Are you going to get hem set up with the proper inventory for you? I am hopefully going to be doing a little more commercial stuff later this year. Or should I say, my guys will be.

Kick back and have a  now.

Hey, think of it this way, if it snapped that easy it was probably destined to fail when you turned the water back on anyway, just saved you from coming back the following day to warranty a repair done on the FIRST DAY of a new job.

Thanks Dana, I hate revamping commercial jobs that were neglected.....
Everyone understands that its a POS system....but It being my first day sucked to make such a mistake....irrigation=irritation....

the wiring there is a total mexci hack>slap

the installers didn't know which way the wire went so they double up their splices....Not sure if that makes sense but I saw it a lot on a job in NC...

No W*M valve parts on the truck?

Had plenty of those....

BUT we had no 2' fittings....Which sucked....And what sucks furthermore, the 2 wells are connected so we couldn't service anything else w/o water...

it was just past 5 so the local places were closed...

Never smooth sailing all the way. I always equate "replace valve" with "we didn't have the parts and/or knowledge to repair the existing valve", so I would think fittings unnecessary, but I'm sitting here typing and watching hockey, and not in the trenches today.

Hi Ed

Good Luck! 1 day down, 999999999 more to go!

BUT we had no 2' fittings

Curious why a big outfit like that goes to a job that has 2" lines with no repair fittings/pipe on the truck. :hammerhead:
