I was checking my gas line on a five horse power briggs and stration didnt see any leaks on it. Left for thrity minutes when i came back i smelled strong oder of gas. when i looked at the gas line their was whitye ice like chips around it and gas. I leave in california and it was no where near frezzing, Does anybody know what the white like ice cheaps are.

I have seen it happen though I am not sure how what the reaction is that makes it do that. When you have a small leak and the fuel leaks at a certain rate is when I have seen it occurr. It does not have to be near freezing for it to happen.

Comes from water being in fuel, doesn't have to freeze to crystalize. Just had same problem with one of my trucks.
