Landscaping to me is creating the serviceable product. Seed, sod, planting, mulch and the like.

Hard scape is what it is, Hard.

Maintenance is the service of the landscaped product, mulching and mowing.

dura to the max

landscaping is the installation of the flowers, shrubs, trees, and mulch usually. it can include lighting, irrigation, and hardscaping but the customer might not want all this. if he doesnt want lighting then that aint included in the price. price goes by what the customer wants. personally i charge about 2-2.5 times the cost of the plant to install, about $5.50 for pinestraw to install, $65/mulch, and the price of the sod and $75 to install.

Going by industry standards, set by Planet/ CLT guidelines

Landscaping is typically installation of living (or once living if speaking of mulch) materials.

Hardscaping is rock, patios, fireplaces, ponds etc.

Outdoor/holiday lighting is another category

Followed by Irrigation in yet another category.

Landscape Maintenance is careing for the living materials (lawn shrubs n trees)

However a Landscape Contractor can do ALL of them.

We specialize in hardscapes/irrigation and lighting but we do it all.
