Can you write up contracts yourself on like Microsoft Word using your home computer? Or do you have to go through a lawyer and use carbon paper, etc etc etc?

either /or or both.

Most peple write them up after years of expereince, including everything they have been burned on in the past.
whne you get big enough and you do work that is high dollar have a lawyer shore up your contracts

Get a good attorney for a client and barter with him. That's what I did and it works out great. He has written all of my commercial contracts, filed leins on properties where we got hosed, etc.
