Sea Foam engine treatment was recommended to my by a old salt lawn mower and small engine mechanic who had been working on motors before I was even an itch in my dads crotch. Now that I am not in the business anymore I only run it through my engines once a year.

What are your guys opinion on the product?

I don't know about motors, but it helps with nasty itches.

Worked on noisy hydraulic valves in several Kohlers......and never had to change them out so I like it. Use it on Echo stuff .

Been using it for 7 yrs now and still running the same mower all those years with no carb problems. I learned about this stuff back in the early 90's when I was an outboard boat motor mechanic. All the mfgs. reccomended using it. I run it in all my equipment every week. Buy it in the gallons, it's a lot cheaper.

you put it in your gas tanks or what

from what ive heard.. its best (for autos) to suck it up through the vacuum hose)

Sea foam is great. If a mower is running rough, maybe some gunk in the carb, or build up from combustion I will run some through. Within a few lawns, everything will be running right.
I also use it for winterizing my equipment, it seems to work better than Stabil.

I use it in everything. I joke around saying i carry a mechanic in the toolbox. There are multiple times the mowers have just started running bad on the job.... I will get the stuff poor some in the carb and the gas and within a couple of min they are running as good as new. I also run the weedeaters without guards and it will cause buildup in the exhaust port sometimes if ive been running the string too long. I run that through there and it saves me from having to take the exhaust off and cleaning out the port.

I know you can put it in your crankcase oil, and 4cycl/2cycl engines but I was wondering today if it would be beneficial to put in your hydro fluid?

how much do you put in your 2cycle and mower and do you poor in the gas on the mower or crank case or both

Ive never used it in the crankcase. If its not running too rough just put some in the gas to help tune it up. If its running bad then put some in through the carb and in the gas... let it sit for a couple min then start it up. It will smoke like crazy. I usually pour 1/2 a bottle in the z gas tank a couple times a season. Pour maybe about 1/2 to 1 once in a weedeater tank or push mower and try to get a little in the carb too.

I just know of the product, not much about it. I wouldn't hesitate to use it in a trans or power steering, but I would do some research before adding it to a hydro drive on a mower. First, I would be opting for a premium synthetic, in which case an additive should not be necessary. I guess I probably would use it if I were wanting to flush and clean a system prior to an oil change.

Regular Sea Foam has been a great product for me and saved me a carb teardown a few times.

Use the TransTune for hydro systems and that includes power steering systems. But USE very little at a time as to not drasticly effect the viscousity of the oil and wear seals out.

As far as the mechanics secret weapon... SeaFoam I keep a shelf full of the stuff. If you run it in the crank case only do so for about 5 minutes at idle to help remove sludge before an oil change.

As far as a fuel additive, thanks for reminding me to drop some in my Z today.

i never used the seafoam stuff i always use marbels mistery oil. it sounds like the same thing. you can use it in gas and crankcase. i use it in my 2 strokes and mowers mostly on the hot days to keep valves lubed up..

if anyone used both let me know if they are like the same

My employess Mom has a Ryobi trimmer. It sat up all winter. It wouldn't run. She asked me if I could look at it for her. I did. The gas was WAY bad. Looked like milk. I emptied the bad gas, pulled the spark plug. Filled the cylinder with seafoam. Let it soak. Emptied the cylinder, installed the plug. Put some good gas in the tank, along with some Seafoam. It fired right up. Smoked for a minute. Then it ran like new. Seafoam is awesome stuff. I also used Seafoam in a push mower I found at the dump. The mower looked fine, but would hardly run. Put fresh gas in it along with some Seafoam, ran that tank through it. Mower runs fine to this day.

I had always bought it at auto parts supply stores in the 16oz can. After finding out the other day it came in gallon size quantities for cheaper I was thinking big discount. I found it at one of the farm and home supply stores in gallon size but after doing the math I was only saving a few cents a ounce over buying it in the smaller cans. Would have been a better deal for me if I was still in the biz. There is farm and home store I have not tried and Im going to give em a call to find out their price just for the hell of it.

So is Sea Foam something like STP gas treatment but better? Sorry, just asking. I think I may go to Buccheits Suppy to see if they have some SF.

I just got some and I think it said 1 ounce per gallon. I'd have to take a look at the can when I go back out to the garage.
