I just came across that new US mower head last night. It looks awesome! I have a mini-ex with flail mower like you. (tb138 with 30 inch us mower). A skid steer with a flail mower would be a perfect complement. Mini for steep roadsides, low limbs, and really tight spots like between trees etc. and skid steer for everything else. I'm very happy with my current us mower head, 250 hours on it with no problems. Keep us posted on your experience with it. I'm really curious to see what kind of thicker stuff you can get into with it. Thanks for the pics and congratulations on your new purchase

Is that standard flow? If so how much capacity does that mower need to be run? I like the job it is doing it looks nice. How fast are you able to go though that stuff in the picture?

Lights are on?????:)
Looks like your getting everything color coded!!!!!!!:dancing:
What is the weight of the attachment? Thanks for sharing the pics and report back after you get a few more hour in with both the CTL and the mower.
Looks to be wet out where you mower ,so would a skidsteer machine have been able to work in the same wet area?
Good luck:usflag:

BIGBEN2004,No it is a high flow head, they want 30 gpm at 3000 psi,I can move about 2.5 to 3 mph in that wet trick grass.Construct'O,I did't turn the lights off last night when i loaded, the head weight about 1800 lbs with the push guard, that ground was really wet the water was coming over my shoes so no go for a skid in that ground,

It seems more and more mower companies are using those style of flail knives, mine are attached by a clevis ring, I'll have to upgrade mine now.

So minimax, how much did you charge for this job? I seem to have a hard time getting people off their cash in jobs like this, small and easy but dont want to pay the showup charge...

lawnboyblake,I charge $85 hr and have a 2 hr min. I group 4 to 8 of these jobs a day when i do them so they pay better that working on one job all day. I'm the only one that will go out for less than a 4 hr min. so I get all the small jobs.

Very Nice!! How long does it take you to do 1 acre of overgrown grass/brush mix?
Also, given hard ground, do you think a Toolcat would be as productive with a similar attachment?
Thanks!

It takes me somewhere between 1.5 hrs to 3 hrs to mow about a 1 acre varies on the ground and whats in the brush like rocks, stumps, barb wire.etc
On the toolcat if it has 30 gal a minute at 3000 psi or more that it will work the same. Bobcat ron I will try to get you a close up of the blades.

MiniMax,
Nice rig!
What are your costs per hour? Fuel per hour? That price of $85 per hour seems pretty cheap for that set up.
I'm looking atgetting a fleil type head also.

I burn about 25 gal in 8 hrs of hard mowing. And the cutting blades last about 300 hrs at a cost of $9 each X 18 sets of 3 blades each,The blades cost about a $1.62 dollars per hr. It is not that noisy.

That's a steal on those blades, I paid over $560 for 80 individual blades and hardware.
US Mowers will be cheaper in operation costs then due to their larger (and less) blades.

$85/hour is not cheap with that rig as far as I'm concerned.
I have guys running TD25 dresser dozers (D8 equivalent) for 160 an hour. 64 gallons for an 8 hour day. More than double the fuel used for not double the cost plus it's a bigger machine with a higher operating cost in general.
