While recently trying out the new deere ztr's I spoted a 1994 425 AWS with 192 hours in excellent condition on the used lot, its one owner has a 3 point hitch and 54" deck the trctor looks and runs like new, I didnt ride it yet( wasnt really looking to go this route but I'm interested! theyre asking 3400.00 anyone have one of these?? PS I'm a homeowner mowing 2 acres( pretty hilly) I currenty use a 2002 cubcadet 3240 40th aniversery model - great tractor ( which I hate due to the seating arangemant) thanks.

On my second 445..... my first AWS . 445 is injected, the 425 is carb. Very fine machine for using attachments. I have most everything. THEY HOWEVER DO NOT HAVE GOOD MOWER DECK DESIGN FOR GOOD QUALITY MOWING! I love these machines but honest is honest. They cut OK in dry mid length grass..... but long... damp.... or wet they chunk and spit. Have tried all different combinations of blades... deck is dead on for set up.... they just can't compare to a GOOD "Z" for cut quality. And the AWS does not cut level in a small circle. Not much off... but not perfect. I think this would be a great machine if you wanted to run some of the many attachments available!

My last deere was a 318, I was happy with the way it cut, do you think its comparable to the 425's cut ?? thanks, do you like the aws?

I have had 3 AWS JD mowers since 2001. Starting with the 425, w/ 60 inch deck. It was a bit under powered for a the deck size in long wet grass, but slow down and it would do just fine. Had over 1300 hrs on it when traded for an X724 AWS (now called 4WS). If the rear steer joints are taken care of they will last a long time, if not they get loose.

I would get one just for the 3 point and some of those features... A mower deck would be ducky as well.
