i'm finishing the replacing the center spindle on a 48" scag, the spindle is in but how do i get the pulleys and all back on, its a doule stacked pulley and the problem i'm having is this, on top of the pulley is a piece that slides down into the pulley that the shaft chuck (the square thing that slides in the spindle shaft to line stuff up) goes into, i can't seem to get the 2 bolts to line up w/ the threas that are on the pulleyand the threads on it, i just thought that mayee i'm not suppose to be using the threads on the top part, if that made since, but any help would be great...

I moved this over here where the mechanic experts will see this.
In the meantime, I know this isn't any help to ya now, but before
you tear something apart, you should really study it. I know plenty of times I will see my husband staring at something, and I'll say, "What in the heck are you doing?" And he says that he is studying the problem, so he can remember how to get it back together.
Another idea since digitial cameras are so plentiful, is to take a close up picture of the machine before you break it down.
Don't worry though. I'm sure someone here will be able to lend a hand. :)

sorry for the confusing, i finally figured it out, i'll try to explain...on top of the pulleys are 2 bolts, you unscrew the bolts then screw them in a different set of thread holes to break the pulley's loose, i was trying to put it back on by screwing it in the threaed holes first but that's not how it works =)
