I've seen a few of these posted here before and thought I'd show what we came up with to solve a problem with some very heavy ramp gates on one of our trailers. It's a pair of garage door springs inside 2" conduit. The rest explains itself.

Pretty cool! Could you have gone straight out of the tube to the ramp?

ya they usually just come right out the end with 2 little pulley type things, but that looks really nice, great work!

I could have come right out of the tube but these gates are really heavy. I wanted the cable tension to lift the gates up, not pull them forward so I built a short tower to get the pull more vertical.

the pulleys give them more mechanical advantage ,looks great.:weightlifter:
