Anyone have a Bri-mar dump trailer?? Any issues I should look out for??
Also looked at ez-dumper. What do you guys think of dump inserts?
The bri-mar dump was a 6X10 for $3550. Didnt price the ez-dumper trailers

Is the trailer you priced a 7000 or 10000 gvw?

axles tires rims thickness of floor/walls 12 16 24" rail spacing barn door spreader door 2x4 posts single double or sissor lift truck charger remote control tie downs roll tarp low profile ladder ramps tag or gooseneck ....... you get my point. SOOOO many variables to compare.

better question is how do you plan on using it? Get a low profile if you want to tow a skidder than low profile is better, if your getting it for materials then you get better dumping with over the tires. Goosenecks hold more angle better and give you a place to put extra buckets.

remember a dump trailer that is rated for less than 10,000 lbs is not worth the money spent, and if your choice is a 6x10 10k or a 7x14 10k trailer the 6x10 actually can hold more because the trailer itself weighs less.

They weigh in close to 1200 lbs if I remember right. The 10k rated units weigh in around 1800 or so. For the bit extra money, I'd definitly go for the 10k gvw. th 7k just seems as if you'll easiy out grow it to fast.

I have a Bri-Mar, 12,000# LPHD...it is awesome. I bought it last year but we have one at work (at my PT gig) and it's been through Hell in the past 10 years and it is still going! That's why I decided on Bri-mar. It's an expensive trailer but well worth it. I would agree that the weight of an empty trailer really takes away from what you can actually put in it. I can put 8440# in mine, legally. I tow it with an F-550, so it's like not even behind me! Don't get under a 10,000# dump trailer, that is, if you have the truck to tow it.

Pulling a smaller skid steer is fine, but it's a bit akward....i'd get a dedicated trailer for that if I had a MTL, it'd be a better ride.

Not really looking to put a skid in it...Yes I have the truck to pull it. 07 duramax............10K would be nice, but I only have so much to spend.
Want to build a leaf box for it also............:usflag:

Out east take a look at PJ trailers, they make a great trailer and you could probably drive and get it direct. We have an ABU 14' 16000lb. and there are days I wish we could carry more weight, so go as heavy as your wallet will afford.

I got my bri-mar about a month ago and i love it. Its a 6x12 with 12k axles. Its a bit heavy though. Almost 3k empty. Its a very nice trailer and has saved me lots of labor. During the summer its my grass collection system. I put all my grass clippings into it since i bag everything. I also use it for mulch, firewood, dirt, and pretty much anything else that i can fit in there. I built walls, so the overall height is a little over 6' high. I'll have to post pics soon.

Question about dump trailers. Arent there certain brands out there that include ramps with the trailer so you could put a skid steer in it? Because if i do get a skid steer this winter, I think it would be more efficient to have a dump trailer to haul it around in rather than getting another flatbed that will only be used to haul the skid steer, because otherwise i can haul a lot more quantity and weight of something in the dump trailer rather than the dump in my one ton. Also whats the highest GVWR for a bumper pull type dump trailer? I have seen 14,000, but is there a 16,000? Who would you reccomend for a quality dump trailer? My uncle has a 7,000lb PJ Dump Trailer and it bent the frame where the hydraulic ram is welded on, so there pretty much junk in my opinion and not heavy duty. Thanks

or should i just install a goose neck hitch in my pickup and get one for 14,000 or 16,000 lbs. I see that Bri-Mar and Big Tex dont make bumper pull dump trailers over 12000, there must be a reason for that, maybe they think they wont be strong enough? But there are all these custom dump trailers on ebay and whatever that say there 14000 GVWR and I dont know if i would trust those. A single axle 3500 should be able to handle a 14000 dump trailer, wouldnt you think? Hell my buddy who has a 14,000 GVWR 8x24 foot goose neck cargo trailer for his spray foam insulation business, he hauls that around with a 2500HD it sags pretty good but the duramaxx loves it and i think he said with it loaded, he is pushing 15000 lbs! O well

Mine had an option for it and got 4 d-rings, a combo gate, and ramps under the trailer.

My guess would be your uncle tried to overload the little 7,000 PJ. Or tried to dump on to much of a incline.

I have a 14,000lb goose neck and have hauled dirt, firewood, pavers, wall block, boulders, skid steer, Dodge minivan, scrap metal. The trailer has not even balked at anything I have thrown at it. The powder coat paint has held up well to the abuse.

I don't know what the highest bumper pull is weight wise, but PJ's are a nice trailer. Any 7000lb. dumper can easily be overloaded and mess something up. The higher the capacity the better built it will be. Most smaller ones rams could probably dump more weight than the frame can handle. I think most manufacturers probably build a pretty solid trailer in the heavier range. Look at frame construction, size ram and configuration, most will come with ramps that store somewhere, and look at the dump door types to see what will work best for you. Some have stake pockets to build up the sides while others use slide ins for board like a dump truck. Look around at different brands, most will offer the same options, some come with more standard stuff, it's really up to what works for you.
