Here are some lawns I did in the rain last saturday. I actually do one more but they were fed up with me anyway(pita) and thought I was crazy to try cutting it in the rain. It was cool to rub it in because the two next door wanted it done even though it was raining. Also are some from today. Those two really come out good. Mower used is a lazer z hp 46". It works really well in the rain.:cool2: Enjoy!

Looking good man. I had to cut some in the rain today and it sucks. Once it quits raining the humidity is almost unbearable. It felt like a steamroom in hell.

I agree my deck could use some adjustment. Those are st. aug and are VERY thick. I was cutting at 3.25 and was mulching. Some lawns come out great some look a little off. I'll ask my dealer about the deck. Thanks.

Here in FL I don't cut any St. Augustine under 4". Cutting that dries it out and looks like crap. I doubt it's a mower issue, the lawn would be uniformly green if you just bring the deck up.

Yea the shortest i cut it is 4 and the highest is 5.5 i have no yards below 3.5 3.25 is way to short.

$270 plus tax and worth every dime.

My mower will cut uniformly when it is raised up. Those lawns just grow so fast I try to keep them low. I'll raise up my deck next time though. I talk to quality cuts pls(Anthony) who lives close to me and he says when you cut it too low it will actually grow faster. And when it is cut higher it will look greener and not grow so fast. I try explaining that to some of my customers but just want it cut as low as the mower will go.:rolleyes::rolleyes: YEAH RIGHT! The lowest I'll go is 2.75 and the lawn has to be VERY short to do that.

have you thought about the roller bar to put on the back of your deck that exmark offers. If that doesnt improve then i dont know what would. What type of grass usually grows down there?

way to keep going spite the elements. Nice pics. We don't have that type of grass up here. Or it's not an issue.

OOO boy, what weather we have had these past 2 weeks. we get from about 8-2 to cut grass. and then it comes dowin like hell. i had to do 5 lawns startin at 4 o clock cause thats when it finally stopped raining. everythin looks good tho. and what sux is, you cant bag cause it clogs the sh!t outta the mowers cause the grass is tall ans f**k and then its soakin wet. so your stuck mulchin and going back over with the blower to break all the clumps up. i really hope this weather pattern will stop, but looks like this upcoming week looks the same as the past 2. hopefully we can meet up this wed if i have time. cya dude.

yeah thats corner house, it dose look like your cutting to short since you can c the brow rows. thats what some of mine looks like when i cut it at 2.5, but hey, thats what the customers want cause when i cut at 3, it grows to fast they say. so i guess thell get a browner yard, what more can i do. lol. i do whatever makes the customer happy as long as my yard looks decent which it does. that yard dosent look bad and mosy people in our area dont know the difference. i really like the second pic tho, grass looks to much of a bright green to be in kenner, haha.

deff cutting too low, and in the corner house pic i can see your ruts from going the same direction every time you cut. try changing up where your wheels travel on the grass

Man did you see the rain storm that we had around 4 today, it was hailing marble size ice balls and the rain was obnixous. i was stuck unloading my equipment in it and got pelted in the head and shoulders a couple of times with the hail and it didnt feel to good.

Why do the exmarks not stripe as good? All the encore's i see around me have nice deep stripes.

My exmark just turned 200 hours and I swear the striping is getting better as time goes along.

My exmark just turned 200 hours and I swear the striping is getting better as time goes along. Most of the lawns that are serviced around here are striped anyways so I couldnt really say if its striping more than other mowers but it does leave a nice line.

I was trying to cut off too much. Also the grass doesn't stripe too well down here. And no offense but your lawnboys aren't nothing compared to my exmarks.

st augustine is not the best for striping. i cut many yards w/ this grass, and it just isnt one to stripe.

TheChiefsLawnCare
06-30-2008, 09:43 PM
no indeed not, the clostest you can get to a stripe is the line marks from the wheels and where you doubled up the cut, lol. other than than, you dont get a stripe. only grass in this area that is striped is the zephery's baseball field, and if im not mistaken, scott corect me if im wrong, but their's isnt even striped.

it is possible to get SOME stripes out of st augustine. i have one lawn that does pretty well acutally. but as a general rule it is not very prone to stripes.

EVERYONE around my area of south louisiana cuts there grass SHORT. i cut mine at 1.75 which is about how everyone else does it and all of our lawns look fine. st augustine

i cut mine at 2". i think im going to try it higher and see how it looks. imo once the st. augustine grass is cut lower on a regular basis it will begin to thicken and become just as green at a short height as it will at 4-5".
