When accelerating under load at 65-70 mph and 2500 rpm I am getting a loud whistle from the engine. Sounds like near the firewall on passenger side up high. Any thoughts? Seems to run fine otherwise.

Man I hope not. I thought it only did it when it was hot but was running empty today and it's only in the low 70's and it did it. Very loud noise!

What year F-550 ?

If its a 6.0 turbo whistle is normal and you may not have heard it before because the turbo has been stuck.

If its a 7.3 maybe the wastegate is not working properly.

Check all the clamps on the turbo, and intake hoses for the turbo. More than likely you have a loose hose clamp. Seen it a hundred times.

Probably a broken down pipe. It is the 3' piece of exhaust running right off the turbo.

It is a 7.3 and the first year they made the 550. I'll check all the hoses. Thanks!

Definitely not turbo whine. It's a much deeper sound.

we had one that had a hole melt in one of the waste lines.
