View Full Version : Here is this weeks extra project

Here is some work I recently finished for one of my maintenance customers. A dry stack wall to replace the cheap looking steel edging the previous contractor installed. 5 tons of stone and 30 yards of hardwood mulch. Built the low wall along the front. I had to dig up most of the plants to get them back up to grade.

I suggested the owner sub this work out to a company that specialized in stone, but nothing doing.

Working solo, (yes, I am crazy) this took me about 20 hours, and I had to squeeze my other maintenance customers in here and there. Long story short, as long as I am solo, this is about as much as I can handle and still get my route done. Dawn to dusk got old fast.

There are a few things I will clean up, like resetting some capstones, but since it has probably been 8 years since I did a stack wall I am satisfied. And, more importantly, so is my client.

Yeah, he wants to go canvas the local nursuries for low growing annuals. I think I might end up putting a climbing rose in that area, too, and let it run along the wall. I need to pop some phlox in above that spot, too.

Went by there today and the guy has put about a 6 foot plastic fountain in the middle of the semi circular annual area I built. He is not even going to plug it in or fill it with water, it is just "art." It is much too large in scale for the spot and serves no useful purpose. Looks like the clutter you find in an elderly womans yard.

In case my irritation is not evident, it does not look good at all. I am disgusted.

Man, that looks awesome! I am not a huge fan of the Tuscan theme the customer has going on but your work looks really nice. Its obvious that you take pride in your work.
