View Full Version : overseeding
Can over seeding (kentucky bluegrass) be done in the middle of summer or is it pointless. Temps average high 80's to mid 90's here this time of year. I know the best time is fall or spring, but just wondering.

yup, it would be difficult to get anything going this late. Wait a couple of months, the best time is Sep/Oct. By spring you will see terrific results.

I seeded a area I had did some work on at home here about a week ago. I have some thick peach fuzz growing. :) I keep water on it 3 times a day.
It can be done successfully if you monitor the watering daily.Stop watering and it will most likely stop growing.

We seed during the summer all the time, just keep it watered. KBG will take a few weeks to germ anyways, by the time it's really ready to get going the nights will be getting cooler and it will thicken up real good in Sept. The only fear I would have with overseeding is possibly damaging what is there, but if it's not great to start with, who cares.
