The problem with any 1 ton dump it has no payload. Truck might be good but it can't carry anything. They lack braking power and the trucks just don't handle very good.

ya , i wasnt really asking how 1 ton dumps are, i actually love them every landscaper here runs them, there are proubly over 100 of them in our city that landscapers use, they are the best and perfect for wat we use the for.
i was mainly asking about the 6.6 diesel engine, and if it s agood engine, or if it has any problems??

What's the 8th letter of the VIN? 1, or 2? That's the question.

We have an '02 and 08' and we love them. An 04' would have the LLY series engine I believe, and the updated injectors, which were a problem on earlier models. They did have some overheating issues with that series, but I don't think it is anything to worry about. The price is fair, but with the market they may be willing to go down. 1 tons are what everyone here uses as a standard truck, and a Duramax/Allison is tough to beat. True the payload is not great on a 1 ton, but that combo will pull most landscaping stuff with ease, and plow snow to no end.

'04 Was split between LLY and LB7, hence why I asked about the VIN. "1" Is the LB7, as mentioned, they have had injector issues, "2" Is the LLY, and, as mentioned, has revised injectors, and an added bonus of a variable vane turbo.
They're all good, but I'd be weary of an LB7. Some have been in every 50-100K miles for at least one new injectors, while others are approching 200K+ on all original injectors. Sadly, the aftermarket has not yet stepped up to provide a more reliable injector.
