What your working hours on a average day?

When im out riding around I see lawn care trucks out like around 6:30-7:00 cutting grass. I just thought you would want to start early and end early(8-4:00maybe),but then again maybe they have so many accounts,it takes them all day.:dizzy::eek:

We schedule 4-10 hr days. The crews may get 2-3 hrs OT if we have a lot of extras that week. My supervisor gets about 6-8 hrs OT because of pot watering mostly.

My general routine is as follows: Wake up at 7am. Out the door by 8am. Work till 6 or 7pm. Be home by 8pm. Unload, shower, and eat no later than 9pm. Do administrative tasks till 9:30pm. Unwind till midnight, and go to sleep. Off on Sundays only till December.

Depends entirely on demand and time of the year...
On the one extreme it's from sun-up until well past dark,
on the other its weeks on end of staying home,
then there's everything in between :p

For the most part we do 7:00 - 5:00 Monday - Friday, then 8:00 until 4:00 on saturdays, again depends on the time of year(demand on or behind schedule,etc.). I normally average about 60 hours a week atleast.

I work from 9 30 until 1 30, then take a nap, get up and do stuff around the house. 5 days a week tho, lol. My accounts are clustered, so I do about 40 a week.

7-5 usually, but this doesnt include the administrative stuff, getting ready for the next day (changing equipment for the next day's tasks), bidding, and equipment maintenance.

Helper arrives at 8AM, we arrive at 1st job at 8:15. We work until 3 or 4 depending on workload. We take no breaks, eat in the car. I mow T/W/Th, and do projects or catch up on Mon and Fri. I pick the kids up at school, camp, and/or sitter at 4PM.

We normally cut about 35 lawns per week.

For a different perspective.
I am part time, mowing M-F apprx 9-3 or so. Will fit landscape projects in during the week as well. Trim jobs too.
So, I go anywhere from 20-35 hours per week.

Just looking for a ballpark figure... ;)

My help generally works about 8-12 hours per day and I work around 11-15 hours per day. This includes maintenance, bidding, ect....

I do this about 6 days per week in spring/early summer and 3-4 days per week mid summer.

This year is the exception though because I haven't had a week under 60 hours since mowing started.

It's the age of some thing out there, might be a rock or some meteorite but I'm almost sure of it.

Hey bro, you need a better book system. I work 50-70 hours per week and spend about 3 hours at the end of the month doing books. Of course that is not entering expenses, I do that at the end of the year.

What kind of system are you using? I have qxpress w/ quickbooks pro 08

zz4guy
07-31-2008, 09:51 AM
Yeah I use Quickbooks 07 and keep track of my accounts in Access. Normal routine bookkeeping is only 20 min. per week, if that. But if you add in monthly bills, estimating, advertising, income and sales taxes (sales taxes are a nightmare in this state now), etc I think it would average out to 1hr a week.

Well, when I'm mowing, I only put in 30-40 hours/week, but I got a relatively large landscape install a couple of weeks ago; put in 60-70 hours two weeks straight. So it varies. . .

I'm sure we could debate that in the religion forum :laugh::laugh:

We work 0800 to 1500 Monday thru Saturday. No breaks, no stops and most lawns are within a block of each other. With out wasting time we can get done in 7 hours what alot of the other crews are taking 10 hours. Sunday I work by myself and work from 0900 till 1400. Schedule goes from March thru November. November back to solo and and same schedule minus Sunday. Yep I have no life.
