Granular Myths?

I cant count how many times I have heard several different ways of using granular apps.

Its better to mow first then use Granular.
Its better to keep grass tall and thick then Granular.

No rain then water like crazy
Or Rain or water for 3 days then use granular.

Personally I think it is better to mow first taller then usual then apply granular when there is dew on the ground or when lawn is semi wet.

What do you think?

Granular fertilizer, or fert with pesticide? Which pesticide? Pre-emergent?

Water the pre-emergant granules as soon as possible. Just fertilizer? eh, watering might avoid some volatization. Granules with herbicides? Apply while grass is damp and let dry. (you should be spraying herbicides IMO) Insecticide? I'de say water... but the best answer... follow the label!

Mow height and timing? Haven't thought about that one.

Just my 2 cents.

if it has post emergent broadleaf in it.... put it on wet healthy turf.
